One year, Michelin Bib Gourmand Chef Chris Teigland and his wife decided to make a chipotle cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving. They loved it, and now they make it every year.
Chipotle Cranberry Sauce
A Chef’s Thanksgiving Recipe

Total Time: 10 minutes
Does your Thanksgiving table seriously lack some spice? And by spice, of course I mean heat. And by heat, of course I mean chilies. This chipotle cranberry sauce will fix that.
Is cranberry sauce made with fresh or frozen cranberries?
You can use fresh or frozen cranberries to make this sauce. If you are using fresh cranberries, taste one before you make the sauce. If it’s super sour and makes your mouth pucker, add more sugar than suggest in the recipe. If the cranberry is quite sweet, consider adding less. If it’s a balance of both, go with the ratio of cranberries to sugar that Chef Chris recommends.
What should you do with leftover cranberry sauce?
Cranberry sauce is obviously good on fresh turkey. Believe it or not, this chipotle cranberry sauce is good on vanilla ice cream. And this cranberry sauce will make the best Thanksgiving leftovers sandwich you’ve ever had in your life.
Originally from Chicago, Chef Chris (@christopherteigland) and his wife opened Glo Noodle House in March of 2023. Chris fell in love with Asian food at an early age and later immersed himself in learning how to cook Japanese food. Then he fell in love with his wife.
Glo Noodle House is one of 9 restaurants included in the Michelin Guide’s inaugural Bib Gourmand list for Colorado. The restaurants on this list are offering distinctive flavors with unbelievable value.
Yield:
1 quart of chipotle cranberry sauce
Ingredients List
12oz fresh or frozen cranberries
2 cups sugar
2 to 4 tablespoons chopped chipotles in adobo sauce (depends on how much heat you like)
1.5 cups water
How to Make Chipotle Cranberry Sauce
Step 1
Add all ingredients to a saucepan. Bring it to a boil and cook until the cranberries start to pop. Once they’ve popped, transfer ingredient to a blender and blend until smooth.
Step 2
Taste, and you can add more chipotle or sugar if you think it needs when. As the sauce cools, it will thicken up. If you want it to be thicker, transfer it back to your saucepan and cook it a little more. If you want it to be thinner, just add some water. Transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate. This obviously goes great on fresh turkey, but it’s also good on ice cream. And it makes the best thanksgiving leftover sandwiches.
